Lowers the minimum age for buying assault weapons and other long guns from 21 to 18, reversing bi-partisan gun-violence reform passed after the 2018 massacre at Parkland Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Passed the House but died in the Senate.

Increases oversight and transparency for public funds after the DeSantis administration funneled $10 million from a Medicaid settlement to a political campaign to defeat a citizen-led constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana. Passed the House unanimously but died in the Senate.

This was a fix-it bill made necessary by SB 180, a bill signed into law by Gov. DeSantis in 2025 that led to huge problems with local land-use planning after storms and prevented local communities from efforts to curb reckless development. Passed the Senate unanimously but died in the House.

Florida already has laws against violence, threats, conspiracy, and material support for terrorism. This bill gives Florida’s executive branch of government extraordinary power to label organizations “domestic terrorist organizations,” then attach severe legal, financial, reputational, and campus consequences to that label — without full due process, transparency, or guardrails to prevent political abuse. Passed at the behest of a powerful phosphate mining company, this bill shields companies from legal action arising from radioactive phosphate pollution. Signed into law by Gov. DeSantis.

The Legislature passed an amended proposal from Governor DeSantis to dramatically increase the homestead property tax exemption over the next two years. It will be Amendment 3 on the November ballot. Hardworking families and seniors deserve real solutions to the affordability crisis, but eliminating property taxes just saddles us with higher costs while handing big profits to corporations for services that are currently public, affordable, and working for us.

Renames Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” with rebranding costs estimated at up to $5.5 million. This change to a community owned public asset is imposed by the state with little to no meaningful local public input, requires taxpayers to fund millions in signage and branding changes, and raises ethical concerns about attaching private Trump political/business branding to a public airport. Florida’s roads belong to everyone. Naming public infrastructure after highly partisan political figures turns shared civic spaces into ideological billboards, especially when the honorees have limited or no direct connection to the local communities where the roads are located. Road dedications should generally honor people with broad, lasting civic contributions to the community, not deepen political division or use taxpayer-funded signage to reward partisan loyalty. Gives school districts more flexibility in compensating school personnel, including providing educators a cost-of-living adjustment. Passed the Senate unanimously but died in the House.

A partisan and unconstitutional mid-decade redrawing of Florida’s congressional maps that violates the Fair Districts Amendment passed by Florida voters in 2010 to ban drawing maps “with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party or an incumbent.” Signed into law by Gov. DeSantis.

This was a sweeping health and safety-net bill that would have made food assistance for low income families harder to get and keep and prohibited Florida Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood, cutting off low-income Medicaid patients from using their coverage for comprehensive reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood health centers. Passed the House but died in the Senate.

Among other provisions opposed by public health experts, weakens school vaccination protections by making it easier for children to attend school without routine immunizations, even as measles numbers rise faster in Florida than any time since 1992. Passed the Senate but died in the House.

Makes accessing unemployment assistance even more difficult, including through new, burdensome bureaucratic hurdles. Florida already has one of the lowest unemployment assistance payment amounts in the nation. This bill would delay or deny help to eligible people who lost work through no fault of their own. This bill makes it harder for many public-sector workers to form, keep, and operate unions, while carving out favored exemptions for those public-sector unions that have historically supported Republican candidates. Signed into law by Gov. DeSantis.

This bill makes registering to vote, and casting a vote, harder for U.S. Citizens in Florida who lack easy access to citizenship documents, including older voters, low-income voters, students, naturalized citizens, citizens born at home, and citizens whose names changed after marriage or divorce.
